Sometimes the beauty of a place is so overwhelming, I get desensitized to it and I don't realize how special it was until I've had some time and distance away from it. Such is the case with my ski mountaineering trip to the Cordillera Blanca last year. I came home exhausted and disappointed, unable to see past my perceived failure.
