Fifteen years ago, my half-brother perished in an avalanche in Stairs Gulch. On Friday, I went and skied the line that killed him. It was a line that I've feared for a long time, and I was satisfied to ski it, in stable avalanche conditions with a group of good friends, as a tribute, celebration and remembrance of Martin and his life. And when I got to the top, I could see why he was drawn to this place and its beauty. The view on the summit, with the Salt Lake Valley below, was unbelievable.
