I spend a lot of my time at home dreaming about being in the mountains, but a lot of the time in Peru I was dreaming about being home. It was the kind of trip where I had to remind myself that I wanted – I chose -to be there. When I'm home, I look at pictures of big mountains and think, I can climb and ski that. And sometimes the stars align for a smooth summit day. But it's good to know when to back off. Skiing Urus Este, pictured here, was our Plan B. We decided that conditions weren't quite right for us to ski the bigger dream lines. It was too early in the season and snow was still transitioning.
